How Was Camp Casey Started?

Camp Casey

Growing up, Casey Foote had a love of the outdoors, and her enjoyment of nature was often a respite from the challenges of living with bone and brain cancer. Towards the end of her life, she would spend her time caring for her favorite horse at the nearby horse farm. It often served as a therapeutic purpose for her, giving her something to look forward to on the weekends.

In honor of Casey, Camp Casey was founded as a way to not only keep her legacy alive but also to provide children with that same sense of wonder she had growing up. Today, Camp Casey provides children dealing with cancer and other diseases with a chance to ride and care for horses.

Horsey House Calls

Camp Casey

In order to provide children with the chance to ride a horse no matter what, Camp Casey has provided children who are too sick to travel outside of their homes with Horsey House Calls. This program has the camp bringing a horse to your home for your child to ride and pet in a comfortable environment.

Best of all, this organization has worked hard to ensure that Horsey House Calls can continue through the COVID-19 pandemic with comprehensive safety protocols in place. Through dedication, this camp has ensured that children won’t be stopped when looking to satisfy their curiosity and fascination with nature.
