Seat up to 7  in the stylish and well-equipped 2018 Kia Sorento

Kia is known for designing vehicles with an edgy and slightly aggressive vibe. That's true for their performance-focused models, luxury selection, and even the family-friendly crossovers, like the 2018 Kia Sorento! This model offers a lot in terms of flexibility, price points, and features, and is one of the most popular options here at our Novi, MI dealership location.

Today we'll look at the entire Sorento lineup, the standard features, and its highlights. We'll get into engine and cargo capabilities and look at the packages you can tack on. By the time you're done with this page, you'll be able to see how great this crossover is and have an idea of which trims interest you.

Right away, the Kia Sorento is unique because of its seating flexibility. If you're a small family the seating for 5 provides enough space. On the other hand, if you have a few more kids (or are heavily involved in the school's carpooling circuit around Detroit) then there are several trim options that seat up to 7.

Below are the Sorento trims you can choose from and how many passengers they can seat:

  • L: seats 5
  • LX: seats 5 or 7
  • LX V6: Seats 7
  • EX 2.0T: Seats 5
  • EX V6: Seats 7
  • SX: Seats 7
  • SX Limited: Seats 7

The L & LX trims have a 2.4L engine with 185 horsepower, the EX 2.0T has a 2.0L with 240 horsepower, and the remaining trims have the 3.3L V6 with 290 horsepower. On the Sorento's that can seat 5 the cargo space is 38.8 cubic feet with the seats up and 73.5 cubic feet with all the back seats flat. The 7-passenger Sorento has 11.3/38/73 cubic feet of cargo space, depending which rows are folded flat or up.

With the nitty gritty details out of the way, let's look at what highlights the trims have to offer.

The attractively-priced L is a solid choice for drivers who want a capable vehicle, but don't desire all the extras. You'll still get a rearview camera, Bluetooth for calls and music so you don't need to touch your phone when you're driving around Farmington Hills, cruise control, and a Drive Mode Selector.

The LX is hands-down the most popular choice at Feldman Kia. In terms of standard add-ons, there's roof rails so you could get a bike rack or cargo box, acoustic glass to help reduce road noise, a rapid-charge USB port, and the option of getting the third-row. On the surface it may not seem like much to warrant wild popularity, but with the LX, Kia gives shoppers several package options and allows them choose those bells and whistles. This means customers, like those we serve from from Southfield, can have better control over the Sorento's price and not feel like they need to settle on a crossover that is bloated with features they may not use.

One popular option is the LX Convenience Package that's jam-packed with up to ten fantastic offerings:

  • UVO infotainment with 7-inch touchscreen + Apple CarPlay™ & Android Auto™
  • Heated front seats
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control
  • Rear parking assist sensors
  • Auto-dimming rearview mirror
  • 10-way power adjustable driver seats with lumbar support
  • Leather-wrapped steering wheel & shift knob

If you choose the LX V6 option you'll also get a few advanced safety technologies:

  • Blind-spot detection with lane-change assist
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Supervision meter cluster

Speaking of safety, other features you can get with the Advanced Technology package are autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, smart cruise control, and Lane Departure Warning.

Even though the LX is our bread and butter, we'll still peek at the EX, SX, and SX Limited trims so you can get an idea of what they bring to the pavement. If you really like what these higher levels have to offer, and you cannot find them in our Sorento inventory, contact us and we'll track one down.

Highlights of the EX include a hands-free power liftgate and power-folding mirror, leather seats, all the content of the LX's Convenience package. The EX has its own package called Advanced Touring with a panoramic sunroof, sharper LED lights, and more!

The SX has a larger 8-inch touchscreen, navigation for when you get outside of your regular Livonia route, and sharper sound with a premium 10-speaker Infinity system. The SX has an Advanced Technology package, but it takes it up a notch with ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and headlights that bend around corners.  Last, but not least, is the SX Limited with large and flashy 19-inch chrome-clad wheels, premium leather, and a wood-trim steering wheel. It also takes on all the features from the Advanced Technology package, and second-row passengers will be pleased to find heated seats as well.
