Spotlight: Fleece & Thank You

Fleece & Thank You is a radically unique organization that’s dedicated to helping children battling sickness. “But there are plenty of those types of organizations,” you might say. “What makes Fleece & Thank You so special?”   you might ask. Well, they manifest their mission by providing donors with the opportunity to create a fleece blanket, along with an individualized video message, and send it to the kids.
Fleece & Thank You: Record-Setting Numbers
Not only do they have unique goals, but they’ve already accomplished some of those goals in groundbreaking ways. Volunteers have already made over 60,000 blankets for kids in need. What’s more, on September 21st, 2019, they set the Guinness World Record for the most no-sew fleece blankets ever made at a single event! But it definitely took a village– there were 1,316 people in attendance that day.
How did all of this get started, anyways?
Let’s take a trip in time, back to the beginning. Fleece & Thank You’s founder, Nicholas Kristock, started the organization when he met Sophie, a four-year-old girl in the midst of fighting neuroblastoma. He saw that despite all of the hard work the doctors were putting into her chemotherapy treatments, they weren’t quite able to provide the level of comfort and encouragement that a young child truly deserves.
More Information: Programs, Process, and Impact
That’s where Fleece & Thank You came into play. Between their flagship largescale blanket-making events, the chance for small groups and individuals to create blankets, their FTY 150 corporate program, and their blanket therapy program (in which current hospital patients actually make blankets for future patients), they’ve developed so many avenues for people from tons of walks of life to make an impact…
Here’s a closer look at their process. To see it in action – and to see the joy that it brings – check out IG.
  1. Buy the Kit: 100% of the blanket kit proceeds go to supporting the children, and the kits have even been created in a warehouse by a group of young folks and adults struggling with disabilities.

  1. Make Your Blanket, Make Your Message: They’ll even send you PDFs with step-by-step details.

  1. Upload Your Message, Send Your Blanket: You can’t even imagine how much you’ll be helping.
